Gulab Jamun

Hello people. Welcome back to Akshaya's Blogging World. Today is thursday and am back with a really yummy food post which I love so much and hope most of you also like this special delicacy. As the title already disclosed, it is 'Gulab Jamun'. Let us know crazy facts about 'Gulab Jamun'.

1. Origin of Gulab Jamun-

Some sources claim that Gulab Jamun was accidentally prepared by Shah Jahan's (Mughal emperor) personal chef. There was a similar dish (prior) named luqmat al-qadi but a different batter was used. So, the similar recipe was followed but with different batter (dough) which lead to this super tasty delicacy Gulab Jamun. Here's a picture of luqmat al-qadi. (I don't own the copyrights of this picture)

Gulab means rose water (scented syrup) and Jamun means black plum. So did the name derived.

2. Biggest Gulab Jamun-

The Biggest Gulab Jamun weighing 18 kg is prepared by GITS Food and 10 female team members of 'Will India Change Foundation' at Maitri Cultural Association Durga Puja Pandal, Malad, Mumbai, Maharashtra on October 18, 2018. This was made using 45 kg Ghee, 18 kg sugar, 30 liter water, 2 litre milk and 5 kg ready mix.

3. Is Gulab Jamun Healthy?

However we eat Gulab Jamun occasionally, it doesn't affect a lot. As it is a fritter and sweet, it is recommended to consume it occasionally but not daily.
