Momos
Hello People. Welcome back to Akshaya's Blogging World. And today is Thursday and am back with a yummy yummy food post which is I guess favorite of most. Yeah, let us know some unknown facts about 'Momos' this week.
Fact no. 1:
Momos are basically from Tibetan Origin. The word Momo is derived from the 'Mog Mog' a Tibetan term.
Fact no. 2:
Momos probably came to India through Tibetans in India. Momos are famous in Nepal, and some merchants of Kathmandu brought the recipe from Tibet during trades.
Fact no. 3:
Momos are traditional food in Bhutan, Nepal, Sikkim, Assam and North Bengal. It was passed down via generations.
Fact no. 4:
The traditional momo steamer is called Mucktoo. It contains holes which are used to steam. Some of the steamers are made with bamboo too.
Fact no. 5:
Basically, there are three types of Momos- Steamed, fried, pan fried. Pan fried Momos are also called 'Kothey Momo'. Here's the picture of 'Kothey Momo'.
Fact no. 6:At last, Are Momos good to health?
Definitely Yes. As major ingredients such as Wheat flour or Maida, Stuffing- Vegetables or Chicken/Mutton are used, won't shoot up your blood sugar levels. In fact, Momos are self balanced because even when we use maida in preparation we will be balancing it with fiber like adding vegetables or protein food as chicken or mutton in stuffing
